Happy New Year! It is page 7 of Chapter 1 of your life in
2013 what have you written down so far? I know, I know, New Years Resolutions
are here and now it’s time to figure out if we really mean it. I am a strong
believer in the power of words and the power of writing. Every time I write something down or create a
checklist the items get done. For years I have written down my goals,
visualized my year by creating vision boards and written letters to God about
my friends, families and my future husband * giggles *. I also say who “I Am”
regularly even if I physically have not become it quite yet. I say who “I Am”
out loud and write it on my mirrors so that I can read it daily and just like
magic I become who I said I am.
When we recite and
see things that we want to become on a daily basis we start to become it. The
power of writing and visualization helps us to become just that. Example when
we create any type of “pick up list” from the mall or the grocery store we start
checking off what we have successfully completed during a short period of time,
resolutions work the same way. Resolutions can be short term or long term goals
however they all are intentional goals. Intentional goals are goals that we
intend to have completed by a certain time frame.
I have goal writing sessions with people in my circle just
to see if they have a plan for their life or if they are just drifting through
this world with a “whatever happens, happens” mentality. Unfortunately, that mentality never works for
those pursuing happiness. I like to see the people who cover me in my circle have
the pom poms out for me cheering me on as I win this game of life but I also
want the opportunity to pull my pom poms out and do splits and kicks too!
I love it when people say “Gods plan is my plan!” YES! God’s
plan is your plan indeed. It sounds like a real powerful phrase but what does
that mean to you exactly? Who do you think is planting all of those dreams
& desires in your spirit lovie? Who do you think comes to you in your
thoughts and gives you a friendly reminder about who you are? G-O-D. It’s time
to move! Writing what is in our spirit makes us intentionally be clear about
what we want to happen in our life. When we add a success date to our goals it
creates action and possible opportunities to expand your circle.
Lastly, I’m
going to take it a step further and challenge you to choose an accountability
partner. Give them a copy of your goals, don’t be scared. Give your accountability partner permission
to slap those cookies out of your hand, police your meals, gym schedule, review
your business plan and whatever else it is that you plan on completing this
year. Write it down. Map out your 2013 highway to excellence. The only person
stopping you from being great is you!
